For the required disclaimer; I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Now for the fun stuff. So as you’ve probably seen I was not a huge fan of the last book in the Bishop brothers series, Taming Him. So I was pretty skeptical with this one. But a healthy skepticism with books especially new books is good. It allows you to be pleasantly surprised when the book exceeds your expectations and that’s what this one did for me. It exceeded my expectations. Especially since the first book was fairly boring for me.
This book is about the eldest Bishop brother, Dr. Evan Bishop. He is the only Bishop to not follow in the footsteps of his father and become a rancher. Even though his calling was to become a doctor and he is a damn good ER/trauma doctor, his father still can’t accept that. Evan will even work at the ranch on his days off from the hospital so, essentially, he never gets a day off. But that’s a rancher/doctor’s life. At his youngest brother, Alex’s wedding, he meets the mysterious Stella and has a one night stand that backfires on him the next morning when he is alone and without a stitch of clothing. Little does he know that this is where the drama will begin.
Emily Bell is the new ER doctor and moved from Houston to make a name for herself. After being roped into going to a wedding with her friend, being ditched at said wedding, lying about her name, and having a one night stand, she is ready to start her new job fresh. That is until she walks into the ER and comes face-to-face with the man she slept with, said her name was Stella, and stole his clothes. Not the best first impression. These two have chemistry like fireworks and even being pissed at each other can’t cool the flames.
This book was more of what I was expecting from a contemporary romance. It had the sparks and some pretty steamy scenes but it also had drama to it as well. These two can’t stand each other to begin with but when an old stalker resurfaces and things escalate the only person Emily can think of to protect her is Evan. She trusts him when she rarely trusts anyone. Which makes the book read rather quickly. I just wanted to continue it and not put it down. I highly suggest reading this one. Oh!! And the ending of it!! The lead up to the next book, Chasing Him, is everything! Y’all are never gonna expect that cliffhanger.
