OH MY GOD!! This novel you guys!! It’s probably one of the best books I have read in awhile. Again, I finished this over a month ago but it sticks with you. I already want to read it again. That’s how awesome it was. I did get an ARC from the author but I got it at the Readers on the River event this year so not because I’m a blogger. And still What an amazing way to start out a brand new series!!!
The novel begins with a sort of backstory on the All-War and basically sets up what this novel will be. Knox of Iviland has one 4 All-Wars and only needs to win the war for Terra in order to be free. But when he and the other combatants are frozen in ice for the past several centuries he knows that he must adapt or die. And he will not die until his plans of vengeance are complete. But this new world is foreign to him but the beautiful stranger is from Terra and can make sure he has the upper hand so that he will win.
Enter Vale who was the epitome of ‘the wrong place at the wrong time’. When she and her sister find the caves where the frozen warriors are stored they think it is some strange tourist attraction. But then the warriors melt and they think that they have lost their minds. That is until Vale is kidnapped by one. She will admit that he is hot and fierce but she cannot be separated from her sister. She will not be. However, while figuring out all she can about this All-War and the supposed gods that are waging it she may have, somehow, entered. Now she must fight for her life against everyone. Even the man who has begun to thaw her heart.
This whole novel was amazing. Since it is the first book in a brand new series I will admit that I was hesitant and didn’t know what to expect. But Gena’s books are all awesome and I am so glad I trusted that she wouldn’t publish a bad book. The story of Vale and Knox was so good! I love the ones that have a bit of heartbreak and a rough backstory only to overcome and get an HEA. However, as an ongoing storyline I’ll warn you that an HEA is not always guaranteed. I’m excited to see how the next one progresses and who will be taken out of the war next!
