Take Me Again by Carly Phillips

Published: January 22, 2019

I am slowly becoming a part of the Carly Phillips world. I haven’t read many books by her and when I was presented with the opportunity to read this one I knew I just had to grab it. I had to grab it because it is the first book in a new series and if y’all have been following Carly Phillips she is a very prolific writer. Anyway, I received an ARC of this novel for an honest review and I loved it. It was hot in all the right places with just a touch of mystery and corporate scandal to keep it all interesting.

Sebastian Knight is easily the playboy of his family. Little did he know that he is also considered the fuck up too. It isn’t until tragedy strikes that he finds out just how much his family has been keeping from him. It hurts to learn the truth about his life and he needs to be there for his family. So when the opportunity to help them arises he rises to the occasion. He needs to go to their San Francisco office to see why one key part of their electronic locks keeps failing. It doesn’t make any sense as to why this is happening but it is happening to their biggest client. Without this client their business is sunk. He relishes the opportunity to go out there and show his family what he is actually capable of. What he doesn’t relish is going out there with Ashley. She is the one person in his life that he knows is the epitome of “the one that got away”. He hasn’t seen her since he was eighteen and all of the feelings are still there. Now that he has had his wake up call he will do whatever it takes to convince Ashley that she is the one for him.

Ashley Easton left the United States when she was sixteen and never looked back. Because of one careless comment from Sebastian Knight her entire life was changed and she really thinks it was for the better. However, when Ethan calls her and asks her to come back she knows he is the one person she cannot say “no” to. She plans on staying in New York as long as he needs her but what she doesn’t plan on is going on a trip to San Francisco with Sebastian. He seems to have grown up and changed but is it all just an act to get her in bed? He is the only one that had ever really understood her and when she was sent away it was his ambivalence that hurt her the most. Can she accept a second chance to the first chance that they never got? Or will she go back home to London and live her life?

This book asked the age old question. Is sex better than chocolate? Well, I’m gonna go with “no” but then again I don’t have a Sebastian Knight in my life so for Ashley it is probably a “yes”. I loved being able to read this novel a head of time and it fit nicely into my schedule because of it. I’m looking forward to the next few novels in this series. I’m slowly getting Carly Phillips books read but I doubt I’ll get to them all any time soon. If you’re a fan or if you are just looking for a new short-ish series to read then look no further than this book. You won’t be disappointed.

—“Roses are red, violets are blue, you might live in London, but I still want you. Sebastian.” -Sebastian to Ashley—
