Take Me Down by Carly Phillips

Published: June 11, 2019

As the official second book in the Knight Brothers series we get a look at the brother who didn’t really say much in the first book or the novella. But I actually liked the fact that we didn’t know much about Parker Knight. To me it felt more like a stand-alone because of that. The novel itself was fantastic and I highly suggest it for someone who wants a nice, uncomplicated, and comfortable romance. Without it being boring. It still sucked me into it and held me captive as I was reading. Normally, that only happens with action packed books. Anyway, I need to mention that I got an ARC for an honest review from the wonderful ladies at Social Butterfly PR. They really help my book budget out.

Parker Knight is known as Switzerland to his family. Not just because of his skiing career but because he always thinks things through first and gives his opinion based on the facts presented to him. He is the peacemaker in his family. So when Ethan is being even more of an overbearing dick than usual he goes along with the plan of finding a ski resort for the annual team building trip for the company. When he goes to the one that was originally picked out he absolutely hates it and decides to take his time driving back to Denver. On that drive his car starts to drive funny so he stops in a small town to have it looked at only to be stuck there. Thankfully they have a B&B that isn’t necessarily up and running but takes in people. It is there that he meets Emily and though he feels an instant connection with her, she wants nothing to do with him. As his time there keeps getting extended he is realizing what his life has been missing and how unhappy he truly is working for the family business. Maybe this small town is exactly what he needed? Or maybe it’s the feisty baker/Bed & Breakfast owner who has made him see the light.

Emily Stevens moved back home to take care of her sick mother and get away from her controlling and emotionally abusive husband. When her mother dies she spends all her effort on convincing her father to sell the B&B and move to Florida to be near her sister. She can’t lose him too and the place is too much for him to handle on his own. Unfortunately, he is as stubborn as she is and won’t budge on it. They are at a complete standstill until a stranger walks in looking for a room. She knows his type and doesn’t want anything to do with him. But her father has taken to Parker and soon begins renovations on the B&B. It isn’t long before she takes to him too realizing he is different than her ex-husband but she knows it’ll never work. So she’ll take what she can get and be happy.

Honestly, this book hit me in the feels. It had everything that you look for in an unlikely romance situation including one of them hating the other. I did think that the ending was a bit rushed but that probably couldn’t have been helped so it doesn’t take away too much from the HEA. This series is lit y’all and actually really close to being done so check it out!!
