Total Surrender by Erika Wilde

This brand new modern and slightly dark twist on the classic fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast is one you absolutely will no want to miss. These two characters where so good together with Maddux being inherently flawed and Arabella being slightly naive but also as sharp as a tack. The book was a quick and dare I say gripping read that I definitely didn’t want to put down. As it seems is par for the course with my blog posts lately, I did receive an ARC for this novel from the team at Social Butterfly PR. I’m so glad I did because I don’t know that I would have picked it up otherwise. Now I know that I’ll be reading the next books in the series.

Maddux Wilder wants one thing in life and that is to get revenge on Theodore Cole. So when he purchases Cole’s debt and therefore all of his assets for three million dollars he knows that he has him right where he wants him. That is until Cole’s daughter offers herself as collateral to the debt so that her father doesn’t have another heart attack. Maddux knows that taking Arabella isn’t part of the plan and never has been but he can’t help but be drawn to her. His siblings aren’t happy that he hasn’t taken their revenge but he tries to convince them that he has it all under control. But what he doesn’t expect is that he doesn’t want to hurt Arabella. She has quickly become the most important person in all of this but will the truth tear her apart?

Arabella Cole clearly doesn’t know what her father is really like or what he has been up to. When he gets a coveted invitation to the Wilder Way Charity Ball she begs to go. The fairy tale theme is everything she wanted even if being there with Gavin was way less than perfect. When she over hears a conversation with her father, Gavin, and a stranger about a debt coming do so tries to investigate and ends up offering herself to Maddux so her father doesn’t have a heart attack. The sad part is he didn’t really protest that much and living with Maddux doesn’t seem like it will be too much of a hardship. But can their time of playing house last?

This book was steamy! It was super hot in all the right places and definitely had that HEA that we are all looking for in these books. Also, Arabella was a digital archivist (well basically)!! And she has her MLIS. That’s awesome because I’m a digital archivist with an MLIS! You don’t see that profession in novels very often. So now you know what it’s all about and you should go read this novel. It’s got sex, it’s got intrigue, and it has a fairy tale ending. What’s not to like?

—“She’d been living with her father in the city while working at a private university library as a digital analyst and curator — a fancy description for someone who collected, preserved, and archived digital assets and resources.” -Arabella—
