Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn

Published: October 14, 2019

As I’ve come to expect from Avery Flynn this book was fabulous and hilarious at the same time. I love that it deals with a heroine who is socially awkward and a hero who needs to let go of his plans. These two had nothing but factoids in common but they could possibly be friends. Between them and the other characters in this novel I was in tears I was laughing so hard.

Cole has everything figured out. He has a precise schedule that he keeps to no matter what, he knows the team he is going to play for until he retires, and he knows the woman he is going to marry. However, when he meets Tess all of his well planned life goes up in smoke. He lets himself go for one night and according to Tess they got wedding’d. Even though he enjoyed spending time with her, he know that it isn’t meant to last. That is until she finds him and tells him that she is pregnant. With his child. Now she has moved in with him because her apartment needs repairs and his team guilts him into it. Only now that they are spending time together he feels like there could be a real connection. He doesn’t know if he wants it but he does know that he wants to try.

Tess has been shuffled from one family member’s house to another her entire life. Because of that she is always waiting for people to leave her even though she knows that they won’t. Now she has the most unexpected surprise of them all and that is being pregnant. From a one night stand of all things. She doesn’t expect anything from Cole but he deserves to know about the child. Now they are living together and things are starting to heat up. Can she keep her heart safe from more pain?

This novel had some really great feels moments but it was also hilarious. I loved the bit about the painting being moved around the house. That was fabulous. I think the unlikelihood of these two characters getting together combined with an entire hockey team making sure they get together is what made this novel for me. So if you’re looking for something fun to read today look no further than this one. You don’t want to miss out! Oh, and final side note, I did get an ARC from the author for an honest review. And I think I was pretty honest here in my review.
