Royal Bully by Rachel Van Dyken

Published: March 30, 2020

This book was so good and as a novella it is a super quick read. Only took me a couple of hours to read it and that is probably because I’m a fairly slow reader. But this book is also the first mafia romance that I’ve read by Rachel and she definitely does mafia justice and pulls no punches in showing what her mafia families are like. This one is Asher and Claire’s story and sets up well for the first book in the Royal Mafia series that is coming soon. Asher is Chase’s son and he is the executioner for the family. And let me tell you that Rachel does not shy away from showing the ugly parts of being a part of the mafia. She even writes about Claire getting involved with the family and I will be interested in see how her relationship with Asher develops because part of her soul died when she chose Asher.

As someone who hasn’t read the Eagle Elite series (yet) I can definitely tell you that it isn’t necessary to have read that series and enjoy this book. However, it will add some knowledge because they are now the parents to these characters. The beginning of this book does give a family tree of some sort for those people (like me) who are unfamiliar with the Italian family. This book was so good and it shows the moment when the two main characters in Ruthless Princess kill all their emotions. And that book is gonna be so GOOD. I also want to tell you that reading Royal Bully isn’t necessary before you read Ruthless Princess. It is kind of an appetizer book since both Asher and Claire are supporting characters in the real first book. I fully believe that if you love anything mafia or Rachel you will enjoy this novella. Also, it’s free on all platforms so you can’t beat that.

—“”Bring me back,” he rasped. “Please…” He tugged at his hair, his eyes looked crazed. “Bring me back, I can’t feel—anything.”” -Asher to Claire—
