The Matchmaker’s Replacement by Rachel Van Dyken

Published: August 9, 2016

Again I wasn’t planning on writing a review for the Wingmen, Inc. books but since I did the first one I might as well continue and do the second one. I enjoyed this one way more than the first one. I think it was the banter between Gabi and Lex. They had a mutual hatred of each other that stemmed from mutual attraction that Lex kept initiating. Honestly, with the hot and cold that he put Gabi through I would hate his guts too. Though their arguments are highly amusing Lex does worry about Gabi when he realizes that she has lost weight and doesn’t have food in her apartment. He thinks that he has caused her to have an eating complex. Which is not what he wants at all. Then he finds out that she is working at a strip club in addition to work as the first female Wingmen, Inc. He knows that something is up and he can’t tell Ian without him going into full on protective mode so he needs to take care of it. Just the way he does it is super cute and inventive.

I enjoyed the slow burn of this book as well. Lex is womanizer and Gabi doesn’t want that for a significant other. But she can’t help but be attracted to him no matter what he does and the fact that he is making sure that she is fed and safe while also being a grade A dick about everything. From beginning to end this book was entertaining and sets up nicely for the Bro Code books that came out in 2019. Don’t miss out on Superman’s smarter half, Lex Luthor and the girl who is his kryptonite.
