You Belong With Me by Kristen Proby

Published: May 26, 2020

This book was unexpectedly good. First off, this is my first time reviewing an ARC for Kristen Proby. And it is my first With Me in Seattle book. Little did I know that it was book 14 in the series. So color me very surprised when I discovered that this book read like a true standalone. That was amazing. Though knowledge of the entire Montgomery clan will add a richer background to this story it is not necessary to the storyline. Which I was very thankful for. Not only was this storyline part of the With Me in Seattle stories it was also the unofficial start of Kristen Proby’s mafia romance spinoff. Because Elena was part of a Seattle mafia family but never wanted to be. I will warn you straight out the prologue is kind of hard to read. She went against her mob boss father. I’ll let you fill in the blanks. Anyway, this book takes place 12 years after the prologue where Elena has escaped her mafia family and left that life behind. It is one on the run so it isn’t glamorous but she is working at an animal rescue and that is what she has always wanted to do. Then comes Archer. The man her father forbade her from being with. The man whose heart she had to break in order to keep him alive. Though he doesn’t know that. All he knows is that he’s been looking for her and has finally found her.

Like I’ve said I enjoyed this book and I liked the quick pace of it. Archer found Elena and she immediately let him help her get to her grandmother’s funeral which was a poor decision on her part. She knew that could blow her cover but she couldn’t miss it. Things just continued to spiral from there. Though the book made it less a spiral and more like a wave of ups and downs. The constant was Archer not willing to leave Elena’s side again. He wouldn’t be separated from her even when her family found her. That’s what made this a great story. It was such a strong second chance romance!! I am also, now, looking forward to the spin off mafia series. I’ll probably continue this series as well but I doubt I’ll go back to read all of the backlist. I don’t think I have that kind of time. So, if you’re like me and haven’t read this series this book is a great place to start. I hope you enjoy it!
