This book was much better than I thought it was going to be. Though I didn’t know much about this book to begin with because it was a surprise release and then it was delayed but it is by Avery Flynn so I knew I was going to read it no matter what. I really loved that Nick was from Salvation, VA. Like that town keeps showing up in different series and it so great. We got to see Ruby Sue and her no nonsense advice again which was awesome. I think one of my favorite parts of this book was seeing Brooke struggle with being prim and proper at all times. She knew that Nick wasn’t into formality (especially considering he wanted nothing to do with being an Earl) but she just couldn’t break away from it. Granted her past didn’t help that at all which is why she needed to be formal all the time. But she also needed to prove that she had good ideas that could help the village and the estate. She wanted everyone to keep their jobs and to create new ones if possible. But no one saw the potential. Except Nick who had an inventors mind and could see ways to fix a multitude of problems.
This was a quick read. And though this post is rather short that is because I don’t want to give to much away not that I don’t have anything more to say about the book. It was a cute romance and there were times when you were unsure if it would work out (though being a romance you knew it would). It also had some hilarious moments because Avery Flynn is amazing at writing romcoms. I do hope that we get to see more of the people of the small English village in further books. I also want to see how Nick is doing as Earl since he disdained the position. But as a final comment you should check out this novel. It is the first in a new series so you need no background to read it. I hope you enjoy it.
