The Bookworm’s Guide to Faking It by Emma Hart

Published: December 1, 2020

This book was hilarious and just what I needed. All of Emma Hart’s books are absolutely witty and hilarious but I think that I resonated with this one more because I’m basically Holley. Only I wish I owned a bookstore and I’m trying to leave the frozen North. She is hilarious. I even have a library degree like Holley does. The situations that she gets herself in are absolutely hilarious and once Sebastian decides that he wants to get back into her life everything gets even more crazy. He wants to make amends for what happened at senior prom and to do that he needs to get Holley to actually talk to him. So he tricks her into being his date at his sister’s wedding where things get even more complicated when all of his relatives think that they are a couple. Soon the rumor of their relationship is around the whole town because his grandfather cannot keep his mouth shut. This works fine for Sebastian but Holley absolutely hates it. Which also works for him.

The back and forth between these characters was awesome and honestly it is everything you would expect from an Emma Hart novel. Which means that there is witty banter and will have you in tears laughing at least once before the book is done. Of course the octogenarians are also some of the best characters like in the other books. Nobody does smartass elderly people like Emma. Nobody. If you need a good laugh to get you through the last couple weeks of 2020 this is the book for you. And any other of Emma Hart’s as well.
