Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley

This book was recommended to me by a friend and it was so freaking good. It did take me a bit to get into it for sure but as a new series that was to be expected. This was honestly one of the best fantasy books that I’ve read in a good long while. I wanted to continue the series right after I read this book but they are rather long so I couldn’t continue it due to time constraints. As with many reviewers, my time to read previously publish books is limited. So I was real happy that I ended up loving this book. The world that Kristen Ashley built is amazing. In this first book, Finnie willingly finds a witch and pays her to send her on this new adventure to an alternate dimension which has a Finnie just like her. They are to switch places for a limited time only when Finnie shows up she realizes she has been duped. She is immediately dressed and readied for her wedding to a man she doesn’t know, in a world where the only people who she is is the alternate Finnie’s ladies, and parents who hate her. She only wanted a new adventure and to see her parents again but this is a bit more than she was expecting. After her wedding to the notorious Drakkar or rather Frey she is abandoned in a hunting lodge while he goes and does whatever he wants for weeks on end. But she will survive this and the strange world she finds herself in. Even though she is now a princess she is a fighter and when The Drakkar comes home he’ll have a fight on his hands.

I loved the back and forth between the couple and how Finnie rose to every challenge. Including people wanting her dead. Though the two definitely had their issues the character growth was awesome as was the continued clues into what the other books would be about. Also the battle scenes! True there was lots of blood but honestly a good battle scene needs that and the fact that Finnie was right there was awesome. Finally, I loved the detail that was put into describing the clothing. I don’t always appreciate that but when it is a different world I think that it brings the scenes full circle to know what they are wearing. Especially the gorgeous formal attire. I fully intend on continuing this series so stay tuned!

—-“Or maybe the ghost of a murdering hatchet man who killed dozens of villagers before they caught him and strung him up lives out there and he’s pissed and he’s possessing my cat!” -Finnie—
