This series just keeps getting better! Honestly, I’m not sure how I’m going to handle it when it’s over. As we were all reeling over the ending of the last book we didn’t know Carrick’s fate and what the heck Rune was doing to him. I will say for a god of life and death, he really doesn’t care about the life part of his job. He’s a real douche. Anyway, his punishment or “job” for Carrick sucked but he was way more worried about Finley than his own well being. This book also just started out fast with a with a battle against a wraith that had it out for Finley and trying to figure out a plan to get the blood stone.
Well, the plan they came up with didn’t exactly work out which really isn’t a surprise because we all knew that they couldn’t just get the blood stone and come out unscathed. That only happens in light hearted fantasies. Finally, we learned more about Zora and Kymaris in this book probably because at least Kymaris, if not Zora as well, will be playing a large part in the next and final book. I don’t know how we can already be upon the final book. I feel like there is so much story left to tell. These books aren’t that long so I’m not sure how Sawyer is going to do it but I’m hoping for something epic. Also, the betrayal in this book. You kind of see it coming but you also don’t. Or at least I didn’t. I kind of thought the character would be a bad guy but I wasn’t sure how it would happen and it happens so close to the end of the book that the cliffhanger is almost as brutal as the last one. I hope you are ready because this book will take you for a ride.
