This book was really cute. I enjoyed it a lot and even though I didn’t read the first book I got everything that I needed to. This was a true stand-alone which is always really nice to read. I especially liked that even though Alex was a trust fund baby she was so down to Earth and really just wanted to help other people. Rix, however, had a big old chip on his shoulder from his fiancée dumping him after he lost his legs in a forest fire. While that was a shitty thing to do Rix basically spent the intervening years trying to prove that he was still all man. Until he realized how great Alex was.
This coworker romance was one of the better ones that I’ve read since it wasn’t a fall into bed immediately type of romance. Rix really stepped in it with Alex and she didn’t even want to give him the time of day. Though a don’t blame her because he was a douche. Anyway, there were a lot of ups and downs throughout their relationship because not only did they work together but Alex said they were dating and he was coming to her sister’s wedding. Which was drama central. Those scenes really solidified the type of people both of the main characters were and it made the book for me. I am really looking forward to seeing what’s next in this series but I’m also definitely going to go back and read book one as soon as I have time.
